How To Use DC ModeUpdated 6 months ago

Connecting Your CPAP via DC Mode: The Go-Battery Universal CPAP Battery features four selectable DC output settings (12V, 15V, 19V, 24V) for direct connection to CPAP machines. Using DC mode is more efficient than using an AC inverter because it powers your CPAP with the exact voltage it needs, minimizing energy loss. Follow these steps to use the battery in DC mode with your CPAP:

  1. Prepare Your CPAP: Turn off or remove the humidifier and heated tubing (if applicable) from your CPAP device. This reduces power draw and is highly recommended for battery use (humidifiers can quickly drain the battery).
  2. Connect the Adapter Cable: Identify which adapter cable matches your CPAP model and connect it to your CPAP’s power input. The Go-Battery includes DC cables for most popular machines – including ResMed AirSense 10/11, AirMini, Philips Respironics DreamStation (1 & 2), Breas Z1/Z2, and 3B Medical Luna models. (Older models like the ResMed S9 may require a separately purchased cable.) Insert the other end of the cable into the battery’s DC output port. Make sure all connections are snug.
  3. Enter DC Mode: Press and hold the Go-Battery’s power button for about 3 seconds to enter DC mode. The battery’s display will illuminate, and you will see the current voltage setting. The screen clearly shows the output voltage in DC mode so you can confirm it’s in the correct mode.
  4. Select the Correct Voltage: Single-click the power button to cycle through the voltage options. Stop when the display shows the voltage required by your CPAP. For example, set 24V for most ResMed machines or 12V for most Philips Respironics machines (see the reference guide below for common CPAP voltages). Ensure the displayed voltage matches your CPAP’s requirement before proceeding.
  5. Power Your CPAP: Once the correct voltage is selected, turn on your CPAP device. It should begin receiving power from the Go-Battery. The Go-Battery is designed not to auto-shut off in DC mode, so it will stay on throughout the night to ensure uninterrupted therapy. (You do not need to periodically press any buttons – the battery will remain outputting power as long as it’s in DC mode.)
  6. After Use – Exit DC Mode: When you are finished (for example, in the morning), first turn off your CPAP. Then exit DC mode on the battery by holding the power button for ~3 seconds. The display will turn off. This step ensures the battery fully powers down, since it won’t turn itself off automatically while in DC mode.

Additional Notes: Always double-check that you’ve selected the right voltage – the Go-Battery’s LCD makes this easy by showing, for instance, “24.0V” when set to 24 volts. Using the wrong voltage could prevent the CPAP from powering on or potentially damage the device, so verify the requirement in your CPAP’s manual if unsure. The included adapter cables are designed for plug-and-play with supported models; if your machine isn’t directly supported (or uses a proprietary DC connector), consult the manufacturer or our support team for the appropriate cable. Remember to keep humidifiers disabled to achieve a full night’s use on battery power. By following these steps, you can confidently run your CPAP on DC battery power, whether you’re camping, flying, or dealing with a power outage.
